Hope all is going well. I was a customer way back when at httpme. Over the years lost track of you when I started getting into my own servers and then running a modestly successful hosting company myself.
Are there any threads that explain the evolution from httpme to todat with AussieHost? Derrick |

Nevermind it is non of my business.
Was just wondering what makes you keep selling and starting a new hosting company. I read the thread over at WHT how that transition from you at Dotable to the new owners had a somewhat bumpy ride and I think that answered what made me curious. You do seem to have the golden touch of the hosting biz startup ![]() Derrick |

Selling HTTPme was never part of a master plan. When I started HTTPme in 2001 my goal was not to sell it. It was to make a nice living. Then someone comes along in 2004 and says here's US$xxx, xxx,xx and we want your business. It makes you rethink what you're doing, and opens up new possibilities to what you could be doing. So the wife and I thought long and hard on this, and I sold HTTPme to take a nice long holiday, buy some new cars and build our home.
I started Dotable in 2005 because I thought it was a great potential brand, and used my skills in hosting to build that brand. In Oct 2008 my biz partner for Dotable wanted out, and I was running AussieHost.com at that time, so my plate was already full, and I did not want to run Dotable on my own, so Dotable was sold to the UK2Group. It's just how things worked out. The changeover transition was very smooth, but they've had some issues a few mths after I left. I'm hoping they can work them out. I don't have any long term plans, other than to dance the tango with my wife at our great grand children's weddings. You just take life as it comes and hopefully enjoy the ride. |

Sounds like a plan Bob.
I think you could sell and start 100 web hosting companies and I think each one would be successful. You don't hide behind help desks, and outsourced support. That means a lot to customers these days. |
