What's the story? I sold Dotable to the UK2group in Oct 08 and was not part of the new management team from Dec 08 onwards. No falling out or anything. It's not exactly something that I could announce either. I never made a public announcement when I left HTTPme's management, after selling that company in 04. I did plan on staying on with the new Dotable management, and they were offering a lot of $$ to do so, but it didn't fit, so I left in Dec 08, just before we went on a 3 week family camping trip.
My wife and I decided to focus all efforts into AussieHost.com, and we're relocating to the beach this year (house going on market shortly) so there wasn't enough time for me to be involved at Dotable, focus on AussieHost.com, and relocate to the beach, with selling this house and building the new house. Dotable needed the new management to fully take over and for me to fade away. Nothing worse than an ex-owner staying too long, getting in the way of new management. I'm sorry some folks think I abandoned them, but my hands were tied seems I sold the company and no longer was part of Dotable's new management. I do believe that the new management Ditlev has put in place in the last week will solidify Dotable and push them forward again. |

Thank you for the story. I wish you all the best, with Aussiehost, the beach, the new house. Maybe I'll relocate to Aussiehost but I'll wait and see what the Dotable management does to repair the damage.
But why not? |

Don't want to make a fuss or cause problems for the new management team. I'm not into goodbyes either, offline or online. I had planned on staying part of the community there, but staying out of management, and just being an active forum poster, but that's not likely now the ball was so badly dropped and I would just be pulled back into management.
Yes, the ball was so badly dropped by Dotable's team, but I am confident that the new additional team members that Ditlev has in position there is what was needed, albeit a tad late, but better late than never. I have enormous respect for Ditlev and the business empire he has built, with more than 200 employees and thousands of servers across multiple hosting brands. I was more surprised than anyone at how badly they managed the Jupiter situation, no matter how difficult hardware issues can be to remotely troubleshoot sometimes - and they can be a nightmare. But they've done the right thing, they've admitted they stuffed up, dropped the ball badly, and implemented a plan to prevent this from happening again. |
